Aye, only wish there was possible to advance in the game effectively without warfare.

You don't have to do any Warfare. Some possibilities are that you become a Trader (which will make you much richer than any Combat Capsuleer), or you can become an Industrialist and build Moduls and Ships (the majority of all things in EVE are build by the Community).
Or train Exploration Skills and fit a nice Scanner Ship. That too pays exceptionally well if done right.

Combat is just one of many things you can do in EVE. It's a "Sandbox" you can do what ever you want there :aww:

Combat is not necessary at all.

Truly?! i've played second life so i know the reference of 'sandbox' from there and by that i can imagine a lot of possibilities than before. but there are sooo many addon games for Eve, how does that work? do i need to buy all of them or are every single one merged? also, where do i gain the soundtrack to the game?

The way it works is:
You only download it (you don't even need to buy it, just start out with a Free Trial Version). All Expansions they bring are completely for Free.
The only thing you pay is the Monthly Fee of... Around $ 15-ish / Month.

But: later on when you earn enough ISK (in-World Currency) you can actually buy a PLEX on the Market (with ISK!) and use that to pay your Sub.
That way you keep EVE basically Free-To-Play.

There is a difference between SL and EVE though.
While you don't have Classes and Levels just like in SL, you still have Skill Books you use to train for what ever you wish to do in EVE. So it's partly like SL (freedom wise) just with a big part of additional "Game-Play" and a very engaging and well thought out Lore added to it.
The other Major-Difference is that if you actually lose your Ship due to an incident (own mistake or getting ganked) you actually lose it for real. You will have to buy an new one and also fit it from new. Sounds brutal but it adds so much value to what ever you do there.

If you have any more questions, please feel free to ask (you may also send a Note if you wish so). I will answer as accurate as I can.
